Attentive, relational, and grounded in safety.
Carefully Held Counselling is a private practice grounded in the belief that every person’s story deserves to be met with care and respect.
I offer relational and trauma-informed counselling for people navigating the impacts of interpersonal and systemic violence, as well as other life challenges and transitions.
The approach is collaborative. You are not positioned as a problem to be fixed, but as a person with context, strengths, and adaptive responses that have made sense at different points in your life.
Together, we can make room for what is heavy, while also exploring what might support movement, relief, or change.
I aim to create a space where your story can be carefully held.
A little about me
Hi, I’m Tamara. I’m an accredited Social Worker and counsellor with over ten years’ experience supporting people affected by Domestic and Family Violence (DFV).
Before becoming a counsellor I worked supporting women navigating complex legal systems including family law, criminal law and ADVOs.
My knowledge and understanding of this work has been shaped by the resilience and wisdom of the people I have met and supported. I have been privileged to learn from the many ways people respond to, survive, and resist violence, abuse, and oppression.
For me, counselling begins with the relationship. It’s about feeling safe enough to be heard and knowing your experiences will be met with care.
I offer counselling through the Victims Services Support Scheme and am committed to providing accessible counselling that is grounded in the ethics of social justice, collaboration and respect.
I am a member of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
In my free time I enjoy crafting and playing in nature with my family.
I live and work on Dharawal Country. I pay deep respect to the Wodi Wodi people, the First Nations Custodians of the Illawarra region.
